If you’ve conducted an in-depth search for your dream house but still have yet to find a good fit, it might be time
to revisit and revise your homebuying strategy. This will allow you to restart your house search and increase the
likelihood of discovering the perfect place. To begin, it’s helpful to ask yourself some basic questions.

 Why?

There are many reasons why an individual may choose to buy a home. By revisiting your homebuying strategy, you can
think about why you want to purchase a house and proceed accordingly.

For example, if your initial goal was to buy a home near the top schools in a particular city or town, you may
want to refocus your house search to achieve the optimal results. Or, if you now find you’d prefer to own a house
further out in the country than within city limits, you can update your house search.

 What?

After attending open house events and home showings, your homebuying criteria may have changed. Now is a perfect time
to update that criteria to decide what you’re searching for.

Think about things you’ve liked and disliked as you’ve browsed and visited various houses. Is it time to shift
priorities? Have you discovered new essentials you hadn’t thought of before? Add these to your new and improved home
search strategy.

 Where?

Location is vastly important to your home search, and can also make the most significant difference in your success.
Consider where you want to live, and whether the location outweighs the other needs and wants. Likewise, you can
consider whether you’d be fine living in a different location as long as your other priorities are met.

Remember, you don’t have to go it alone. Hiring a real estate agent can help take some of the stress and difficulty
out of your home search. Consider discussing your strategy with an agent so they can help you on your quest for the
perfect home.
